Constraints are quick and easy to use and can save you a lot of time. Here some examples:

Draw perfect squares and circles
Using the Regular Shapes mode just hold down the CTRL key whilst drawing a rectangle or ellipse.

Move objects in only one axis
Using the Object editor hold down the CTRL key whilst dragging an object. It will then move in only the direction you first drag to.

Draw vertical and horizontal lines
Using the Freehand drawing tool hold down the ALT and CTRL keys to create perfectly horizontal and vertical lines.
