Title: Anyone use a Master xy-300p vinyl cutter plotter
Post by mrphotoman on 30. Oct 2004 at 22:10
How do you like it?  Are their any drawbacks?  My budget is under $900 and this plotter seems to have all I want.  Does it work with win xp and is it compatible with most software?  Does it cut small graphics accurately?  I am 100% totally new to vinyl cutting so any info you have is appreciated.

You can use a Graphtec 1000-60 driver.
Every time you start you must set start point (left side on your MASTER- in MASTER standart is the right side).
Cut with OUTLINE: hairline,
no FILL.,
everythig COMBINE !

Enjoy it !

for just standard vinyl what downforce and speed is suggested? I am using 200mm/s and 205 g  and my lines do not com out clean and neither do points, especially on smaller stuff, but larger items also

Your problem is likely NOT to be as much the downforce as it is the amount of blade you have sticking out.

Too much blade will do the following ....Plunge TOO deep in the initial entry into the vinyl, causing a bit of an explosion effect that, microscopically speaking, creates a mountain range around this new hole ....then the blade has to turn around to begin it's travel, adding to the problem.

When the blade reaches the END of it's cut it runs in to the jammed up mess created by the initial problem, turns a bit due to the resistance given, and never quite makes it back to the starting point. Weeding is a real problem as a result of this. If you look VERY closely at the letterrs you will see this explosion I speak of.

This is easily solved by adjusting the blade so that LESS of the point is showing. This is true with ALL cutters.

IF / when you have too much down pressure, the effects will be that the blade will cut too deep into the backing paper, jamming the edges of the vinyl in to this trench ( kinda like tucking your shirt into your pants but not doing a very good job of it) and when you try to weed or seperate the vinyl from the paper, it will want to take part of the paper with it.

Hope these tips help everyone

Many of you have contacted me about a driver and I have supplied them. Let me add this ... you can use a Graphtec 2000-60 driver for the Master which is an HP/GL driver, which is mostly the same as windows drivers for Rolands, or HP/GL Standard drivers, or a whole lot of other HP\GL based drivers. This is the basic standard for cutters, and have only small differences usually. ( like where the starting point is ..Left vs. ight).

If you cannot find one or cannot download one, you can contact me through the www.SignTrainer.com website and go to the User Form and request it. You MUST have a yahoo e-mail for me to send it. Most other spam guards will block this type of file.

Kevin,
Apparently, SignGo software is not compatible with a USB to Serial Bridge, a real problem since my laptop doesn't have a Serial port.  I REALLY want to use your software but it just won't coomunicate with the plotter.  If you can figure it out I'd be MORE than happy to buy this software. By the way I have a master 380 plotter I bought from Desay and they referred me to your software.

I have signgo running on a laptop with a USB to serial cable - this did not work as installed as the USB device set its com port on COM 9!

a delve into the device manager and the ports section - under advanced on the serial port I reset it to com4 and now all is happy.

The Bridge device is I guess a similar thing, check in the device manager which port it has set itself up on, currently signgo only works with COM1 to COM4 ( its on my wish list to break this restriction - please kevin - ;D )

Title: UPDATE on Driver
Post by SignTrainer on 03. Mar 2006 at 03:35
ATTN ALL .....

I no longer have this driver to distribute, since lightning hit my computer last month and wiped it out, and I did not have a [GOOD]  backup.

You can use a Graphtec 2000-60 driver for this. Once you find and download it, I will send you the instructions on how to set it up.

Also.. you may find my 90-Minute Training Video to be helpful, especially since it devotes 35 minutes to using CorelDraw to design and cut from. Just having the driver is not enough, you must learn thru one form or another, how to make Corel work with it.

Sounds like a communication problem - check the settings for the communications in the plotter and in the software. they must match.

Its possible the software is not finishing the data - what software is it?

im havin problems with the xy300p same problem on my laptop with a usb adapter or my tower which just died..both with xp.. i have some logos for a repeat customer which its cuts the whole thing 3 times eaCH  which kills the lettering.. i just upgraded to verson 1.17 from1.11 and uninstalled it like the direction but is stil shows 1.11 in the about tab.. anyways no it cuts half the sticker 3 times and the rest correctly.. whick kinda works because the letters are part that is correct.. but it still aggervates me cause sometimes it gets off slightly on 2nd and 3rd cuts.. ive also tried on windows 7 on sons computer but not the logo in question.. they were long stickers  and about half way through it took a hard right all the way to the end and continued to try to go further.. i cut 6 stickers to get 3 sometimes it oes fine sometimes it dont.. im lost..

Multiple cuts in the same place (cutting  the same thing ) suggests the original artwork contains multiple lines.
If you email me the file I'll take a look and advise what I find.

The failure, cutting through is a handshake problem, Possible the USB<> serial converter. Worth trying new drivers.

The multiple cuts are in the artwork, probably a converted AI file with fills and a thickness.

I just bought a used Master xy-300p vinyl cutter plotter and signgo v1.xx software. I have no clue what I am doing! There needs to be a "dummies" version of what steps to take to make things work. I have everything hooked up and program in the drive, but cant make it cut from the screen but can make it do a test cut from the cutter itself, which I must have messed up as it wants to tear the vinyl while it makes its litte square and circle thing. Does anyone know where I can go to find a dvd that shows you how to work this thing or a manual anywhere? Thanks!!! :'( :'( :'( :'(

Title: Re: Anyone use a Master xy-300p vinyl cutter plotter
Post by Alan on 13. Jun 2010 at 22:35
First How is the cutter hooked up? This may be the problem as the masters generally use a serial cable and a USB to serial converter or a virtual serial port. Signgo with a default installation will default to COM1, the port of a usb adapter or a virtual serial port is very unlikely to be COM1!!

What to do

Right click on My computer (computer vista) select properties
select hardware then device manager.
locate Ports (com and LPT) in device manager
check what port the cutter is on (there will be 1 or more listed ports.
Suppose it shows COM3 as the adapter then
Open signgo, Put something on screen and goto cut
On the Cut tab select setup under the cutter name
change the connect to the port found in device manager

now try cutting.

Sorry for the bump but, I just bought one of these plotters and I was messing with it and tried to do a test run on it and the blade carrier just goes all the way to the right and then makes a ton of racket as it tries to keep going past the end of the track... any idea of what's happening?  I shut the plotter off and turned it back on and it still tries to go through the side...

There will be a sensor on the side it runs into, this is not working, disconnected, bent etc. inspect the side of the carriage for a vane or something to operate the sensor, and the side of the plotter to see how it works.

I've never had a master to play with so can not be more specific but all plotters I've come across have some variation of a sensor on the side, a common one is a microswitch or optical sensor triggered by a piece of metal attached to the carriage - these get bent resulting in the carriage hitting the wall.

Hello Richard (or anyone else willing to help),

I realize this is an old fourm, but I noticed how much you have all helped others in the past and I am desperate.  I have a Master XY Tiger 2000 cutter that I use with Flexi VE LXi Master Plus 8.0 v3.  I have used them together for the past 5 years and it has worked great.  When I initially set it up I had to go through some steps to add a driver and get it to show up in Flexi as an option, but I have not had any problems since. My computer just recently acquired a virus and I had to wipe the harddrive and reinstall my Flexi software.  Now I am back to not having the Master cutter listed as an option in Flexi.  I assume this is a driver problem, but I called Sign Warehouse and they told me they can no longer provide the drivers or instructions to fix it again and I need to spend $1000's for new software.  If you could send me a driver or guide me in the best direction to get this resolved, I would be VERY grateful.  I tried to see where I could go on the other link you shared, but was not able to find the form link.  I can setup a yahoo email account it that is the best way to get it from you.  Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.

you might have trouble finding flexi specific instructions here as this is a forum for signgo users  ;D

Surely flexisign have a forum similar to this  :o

Look at what you have, is the cutter connected Serial or USB, if USB is this a virtual com port? For a standard com port no drivers should be needed just a hpgl driver in the software.
For a USB connection, drivers for Master if it uses its own chipset or more likely chipset drivers for the virtual com port, probably FDTI or Prolific required. look in device manager and see what device has an error and if it tells you which chipset drivers are needed, download install and plug in the USB cable. then set flexi to the port with a HPGL driver.

I have run 2 copies of Singo for about 4 years on 2 different machines.
1 desktop with winxp to  xy-1000, 1 laptop with vista  to a xy-380, then
a laptop with win7. When I bought the system from Master Wharehouse for the laptop I also bought the usb cable. It has always been as easy as plug an play. Never had to install any drivers. Maybe check with them for the right cable, hope this helps.

Hi All-

Im new to this SignGo forum and as of a few weeks ago didnt even know this forum exist. Ive had SignGo for years now. I only use it for text cuts because the trace function doesnt always turn out nice for images. Probably due to pixelation, but it doesnt trace as well as Corel draw X3.

Saying so, I was wondering if anyone knows how to directly cut from COrel draw X3 for images?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I'm trying to cut the Sons of Anarchy log so i can dress as them for costume party.

Please email me directly at Thomastu408@yahoo.com

Thanks :)
